Mie studied yoga with various teachers and in many styles while living in Japan, Tanzania, the United States and England. Although Mie initially studied and practiced Ashtanga yoga, she now practices and teaches a combination of styles and teachings, predominantly Vinyasa Flow yoga, a dynamic, creative, flowing style of yoga. Mie is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT) with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of a yoga teacher training with a Registered Yoga School and experience of beyond 1000 hours of actual teaching. Mie was trained through Tranquil Space Yoga in Washington DC, the United States.
Yoga has been a vital part of her life both on and off the mat for many years. Mie has continued to deepen her yoga practice from the teachings of many influential international teachers including David Ingalls, Gopi Kinnicutt, Seane Corn, Shiva Rea, Claire Missingham, Yogeswari, Jeff Phenix which influence her teaching approach and style. Practising and teaching yoga constantly remind her that every one of us is born with a unique physical and spiritual identity, and is an invaluable being who has the potential and ability to transform ourselves eventually to make a positive difference to the world. Through her class with a special combination of asanas (postures), choreography, pranayama (breathing techniques), and music, she strives to encourage her students to explore and experience asanas, to uncover and embrace their unique inner strength, wisdom and beauty. Mie is also a proud mother of two active boys, passionate cook, and a wildlife conservationist and an activist, working for many years with Dr. Jane Goodall.
