This architecturally extraordinary house was built in several stages, and includes contributions by Andrew Melesi, Sala Terrena Creative Construction, Kitengela Glass and Anselm’s Hot Glass. The result is two whitewashed towers, linked by bridges and studded with colourful glass adornments. Stylish, striking and completely unique, the house has been featured in a number of architectural and touristic publications and has won several awards.
The 7 en-suite rooms are all different; many have walls open to the views of the mangrove forests and the ocean, and furniture handcrafted by local artisans. The rooftop is dedicated to yoga and offers regular classes as well as yoga and wellness retreats. The swimming pool is surrounded by tropical greenery and chill-out spaces. The team uses locally sourced fresh ingredients to create dishes; the focus is on vegetarian and vegan food, additive- and sugar-free, but seafood can be served on request.
As well as enjoying nearby Watamu Beach, activities include kayaking, stand-up paddleboard (SUP), snorkelling, dolphin watching and sunset dhow cruises. At full moon and new moon, it’s possible to start the day floating down Mida Creek then have breakfast on the beach.
