Meaning land of the Sable antelope, Msambweni Beach House and Private Villas is as striking as this rare creature. The Arabic architecture of the house sets whitewashed walls, high arches and turreted roofs against the bright colours of the coast. A 25m infinity pool and the winding jetty end in a lovely sundowner spot, raised on a cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean. The main house has 3 en-suite rooms with private verandas, a luxury tented room and 2 extra rooms on the 2nd floor. The sitting areas are adorned with pale linen curtains and embroidered cushions and gently lit by Lamu lamps on wooden tables. The 3 Lamu villas have their own infinity pools and Jacuzzis facing the sea. A private cook and waiter staff these villas. Children are not allowed unless the house is taken exclusively.
The main dining area serves seafood and Swahili dishes, as well as Belgian and French cuisine, prepared by kitchen staff trained by a celebrity Belgian chef.
Activities include snorkelling, fishing, kite surfing, windsurfing, beach volleyball, badminton, croquet and mountain biking. Scuba diving, deep sea fishing, tennis and golf can also be booked from here. Nearby attractions include Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park, where guests can dive with sea turtles and swim with dolphins, and Shimba Hills National Reserve, where the rare Sable antelope is still found.
