At the convergence of the Sand River and the Keekorok River, Sala’s Camp looks directly into the Serengeti of northern Tanzania. The camp nestles in indigenous forest, and has views of the northern route, which millions of wildebeest take during the annual migration.
There are 7 luxury en-suite tents, the largest of which includes a double room with central sitting area, suitable for a family or honeymoon couple. Tents are either twin or double, and contain traditional safari furniture that evokes the pioneering days of safari.
Camp food is cooked in the traditional safari way, using a campfire, and assisted with a gas cooker. Home baked pastries, breads and biscuits are a speciality. Produce is farm sourced and free from artificial pesticides. This remote wilderness area of the Maasai Mara National Reserve offers exceptional game viewing; over 450 species of birds have been recorded. Many of the staff at Sala’s Camp are local Maasai, who are proud of their heritage and keen to share their knowledge. Visits to traditional Maasai manyattas can be arranged. Ecotourism Kenya has awarded the camp a prestigious gold award.
The camp is personally owner-managed and hosted. It is seasonal, and is closed from 15th March - 14th June and 15th October to 14th December.
