About Lerai Safari Camp

Olerai Conservancy is a 5,000-acre conservancy bordering the famous Maasai Mara National Reserve. The conservancy is a migration corridor and has high numbers of game. The conservancy was established in collaboration with the local Maasai landowners to the benefit of the community, their domestic animals and the wildlife.

Lerai Safari Camp, established in 2018, is the only camp in the conservancy and has access to all the space, wildlife and birdlife of the area. The 6 en-suite tents, shaded by a cluster of acacia trees, are placed along the banks of a stream. All tents are decorated with local art, safari furniture and elegant adornments, and have charging facilities and safes. The spacious lounge, under a towering makuti thatched roof, faces the plains and the animals that wander past.

Lerai Safari Camp is home to Ride Maasai Mara, offering horse riding safaris in the conservancy. The first official riding experience in the Mara region, Ride Maasai Mara has an exclusive concession, a team of professional guides and a stable of well-trained horses. Other activities include game drives in the conservancy and the Maasai Mara National Reserve, Maasai-guided walking safaris, cultural visits to local Maasai villages, and bird watching. Meals in the bush and sundowners at a viewpoint are on offer. Sister company Hot Air Safaris offers balloon flights.

Olerai Conservancy promotes the Green Economy to improve local livelihoods, including the Tuone Mbali Olerai Women’s Group. The camp also provides water for the community and has built four new classrooms for the local school.
